Small town woes

I’m so torn sometimes between loving the idyllic small town life and wanting to be one of those curmudgeons who water their sidewalks to keep people away from their yards. Fourth of July weekend is one of those times.
Our little block of three residences is one of the areas there cordon off for the festivities. Usually this only means the day itself. This year, someone decided to make it two days and informed us that we can’t park in front of our house or anywhere for three blocks around. Without a driveway, this presents a huge inconvenience added to the weekly pain in the rear having the farmer’s marke on this block brings.
I really don’t want to be a whiner but just once I wish they’d consider us in their decision making.
